John Joseph Clardy, 57, of Vernon, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 6, 2026, while enjoying what would be his last ride on his prized red Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
John was the youngest-and perhaps- most mischievous-of four children, born to Boyce Edward Clardy, Sr. and Norma Jo Myers Clardy, on December 9, 1968, in Columbus. As a child, nothing gave him more pleasure than aggravating his older siblings. As he grew up, he developed a love for rodeo and riding broncs, a hobby that gave him an adrenaline rush and his mother a steady supply of gray hair.
Ultimately, he began a career as a construction supervisor and locksmith to support his family, as well as his addiction to motorcycles and the great outdoors. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. He could often be found on the baseball field, in the woods, or on the river with his family. On Sundays, John enjoyed spending time at Asbury Community Church worshiping his Redeemer, Jesus Christ, with Sarah.
John had a big and bright personality - almost as big as his bald head. He spoke fluent sarcasm and took great pleasure in making family and friends blush whenever possible. Embarrassing his boys in public was a sport he truly enjoyed. John was a social butterfly with a radiant personality who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Boyce Edward Clardy, Sr. and a sister-in-law, Glynda Clardy.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jammie Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his loving wife - the only woman capable of putting up with his antics- Sarah Franklin Clardy. Married on June 20, 2014, they created an energetic, testosterone-filled blended family that included four sons, Zack Clardy, Chance Clardy, Dylan Washington (Monica), and Levi Washington; along with three grandsons, Jameson O'Neal Washington, Greyson Ray Washington, and Koen Jay Washington.
In addition to his wife, sons, and grandsons, he is survived by his mother, Norma Jo Myers Clardy: one sister, Diane Clardy: two brothers, Eddie Clardy and Earl Clardy (Lisa), and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matt Allen, Eddie Riddle, Trey Clardy, Michael Provencher, Dylan Smith, Alex Provencher, Blake Barksdale, and Austin Clardy.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Yogi Walden, Brandon Hollis, Rex Hollis, Jay Simmons, Andy Murray, and David Mitchell.
Memorials may be made to Kairos of North Mississippi, P.O. Box 1093, Columbus, Mississippi 39703.
