Mr. Joseph T. Anderson Obituary (1948

Mr. Joseph Tyson "Joe" Anderson, 69, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Joe was born on August 13, 1948, in Prattville, AL, the son of the late James Lafayette and Louise Wilkins Anderson. Joe received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Mississippi State University. Joe worked as a classroom teacher and as a counselor for 40 years in both public and private schools. His pass times included the study of the Civil War and genealogy. Joe enjoyed flower gardening especially roses. Joe was a man who cared deeply for his students and his family. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: James L. Anderson, Jr. and a nephew: John Tyree Anderson. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. from Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a very special friend: Elaine Tiffin of West Point; His sister, Louise A. Fisher of Madison; two nieces: Lynne F. Vaught (Chris) of Ridgeland and Lydia F. Specht (David) of Portland, OR; two nephews: James L. Anderson, III of Madison, AL and Lee Fisher (Linda) of Madison, MS: a great-niece, Julie A. Robinson (Isaac) of Denver, CO, two great-nephews: Jacob Anderson of Decatur, AL and Andrew Fisher of Madison, MS; a sister-in-law: Kathye B. Anderson of Madison, AL and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Pallbearers will be Dr. Barry Bounds, Dr. Andy Bounds, Jacob L. Anderson, James L. Anderson, III, Lee Fisher, Andrew Fisher, Lydia Specht, Chris Vaught, and Julie A, Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Cohea and all of his former students. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Inc., 800 Avery Blvd, Suite 100, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
