Mrs. Joy Marsac Harris

–

West Point, Mississippi

Joy Faye Blake Marsac Harris, 87, of Cedar Bluff, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, after an extended illness. She passed peacefully at her home with her children and their spouses at her bedside. Joy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her children with all her heart. She also took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she was affectionately known to them as Nanny. You could see her face light up with her family around. Joy also loved being outdoors, as she was often riding around on her golf cart while doing yard work. She could also be found supervising her son, Boodro, as he did various tasks around the yard as well. She was very fond of her church family, and even after she was unable to attend church anymore, she tried to stay in touch with her many friends. When she was able, she always tried to help others in any way she could. One of her many enjoyments was cooking, and that she did very well. If someone was sick, she cooked for them. If someone passed away, she cooked for their families. She truly had a servant’s heart. During her fight with Alzheimer’s, she asked me had she been a good mother. My answer was, “You were the BEST.” Her smile and her wit will truly be missed. She was a prankster until the very end. You could ask, “how do you feel today, mama?” and she would reply, “with my fingers.” She was a widow at an early age, with two children, and she definitely took the task of raising us seriously. She was a Godly woman and tried to raise us right and to love the Lord. She thought we were her blessings, but actually she was the blessing to all of us. Our lives stood still at her passing, and that faith that she instilled in us all is now our strength to carry on without her. She has left behind her legacy, and we plan on making her proud of us in the days to come. Your work here is done, our precious Mama. We know you are now whole again and resting in the arms of Jesus, and that was your goal. Thank you for being the absolute best Mother and Nanny in the world to us. Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point.
