Mrs. Mamie Blankenship Vest Obituary (1932

Mrs. Mamie Blankenship Vest, age 83, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on May 23, 1932 to the late Albert E. and Marie Sanders Blankenship. She was a member of the Siloam United Methodist Church. She retired from West Point Casket Company after Thirty plus years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was known for her sweet spirit and her kindness to all she met. She married James Horton Vest Jr. on December 24, 1948 in Clay County, who preceded her in death on September 19, 1991 Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 10:00 AM from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Enon/ Big Spring Cemetery near Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her five daughters, Gayle Duncan (Clovis) of West Point, Patricia Thompson (C.B.) of West Point, Norma Ellis (Keith) of Cedar Bluff, Etta Blair (Allen) of Petal, and Kim Allen (Tommy) of Mantee; Her two sons, William "Bubba" Vest (Reba) of West Point, and Greg Vest (Carol) of Saltillo; Fifteen grandchildren; Twenty Three great grandchildren and Five great great grandchildren; Her four sisters, Joyce Simpson of Columbus, Margie Williams (Neal) of Cedar Bluff, Lois Higginbotham (Kenneth) of West Point, and Beverly White (Billy) of West Point; One brother, John Blankenship (Virginia) of Waddell. Pallbearers will be Tommy Duncan, Tim Vest, Riley Thompson, David Ellis, Corey Ellis, Cooper Ellis, and Kevin Blair. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eugene And Betty Sue Davis, Rodney Johnson, Dr. John C. Copeland, Isabell Watson, Staff of Dugan Memorial Home, and Tommy Clark Memorials may be made to Siloam United Methodist Church, 2407 Highway 47, West Point , MS 39773 or to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, P.O Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Visitation will be Monday 5:00- 8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
