Mrs. Mary Lou Cartee Myers

Mary Lou Cartee Myers, 84, passed away on March 17, 2025, at West Point Community Living Center in West Point, MS. Mary was born on August 10, 1940, in Clay County, to the late Claude Cartee, Sr. and Claudine Turnage Downs. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many. She married the love of her life, Neal Aaron Myers, Jr., on July 23, 1955, at Enon Baptist Church. He predeceased her on January 24, 2024. Mary Lou and Neal created countless memories over the years, traveling to their favorite camping and fishing spots in Mississippi and several neighboring states. A lover of antiques, Mary Lou had an eye for finding treasures from the past and she enjoyed spending her time hunting for unique pieces. Mary Lou was also an avid bowler and participated in numerous bowling leagues and bowling tournaments throughout the state. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Aaron “Jimmy” Myers, and grandson, Christopher James Myers and stepfather, Emmett Downs. Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one grandson, Jonathan Myers (Ashley) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, one granddaughter, Janie Knight (Elliot) of Brandon, six great-grandchildren, Christopher Myers of Pontotoc, Nora, Charlotte, and baby Myers of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Ellie and Zoey Knight of Brandon: one brother, Claude Cartee, Jr. (Judy) of Cedar Bluff, and two sisters-in-law, Jean Paine of Kennett, Missouri and Pat Randall of Oneonta, Alabama and a number of other extended family members. Pallbearers will be Alex Millsaps, Thomas Millsaps, Jason Cartee, Sam Millsaps, Wes Millsaps, and Brian Griggs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ethan Griggs, James Hemphill, Dustin Cartee, the Nurses and Staff of West Point Community Living Center, her many bowling friends, and her many friends in West Point.
