Mrs. Myrtle Lee O'Rourke Obituary (1938

Mrs. Myrtle Lee O'Rourke, 84, passed away on February 19, 2023, at Traceway Retirement Home in Tupelo, MS. Mrs. Myrtle was born February 21, 1938, in Webster County, the daughter of the late William Travis and Florence Mixon Stone. Mrs. Myrtle was a longtime employee of Flexible Flyer in West Point. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Saltillo. Mrs. Myrtle enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and creating and making all kinds of crafts. She was an avid and accomplished flower and vegetable gardener. Not only did she enjoy listening to gospel music, she would travel all over to see different gospel groups and make sure to take anyone that would go with her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Christopher Nation. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs.Myrtle was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Walters; granddaughter, Charity Walters; step-grandson, David Nation; 3 Step-Sons, Danny, Jimmy, and Ricky Nation; 4 Sisters, Delma Nation, Geneva Spruill, Cora Thompson, and Lura Stone; and by 4 Brothers, Leroy, W.T., Bob, and Tillman Stone. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dean Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include Her Granddaughter: Chastity Cherubin (Wendell) of Columbia, SC, Great Granddaughter: Ainsley Cherubin of Charleston, SC; Grandson: C.W. Walters (Mary Hodges) of Aberdeen; Five Step-Granddaughters: Vicky Bennett of Smithville, Sherry Barnes (Ray) of Baldwin, Rielly Byrd (Josh) of Potts Camp, Kristy Enman of Houston, and Kim Perry of Rock Mills, AL; 2 Step-Grandsons: Josh Collins (Heather) of Senatobia, and Logan Nation of Ashland; Step-Daughter: Kay Wright of Oklahoma; Numerous Step Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved like her own. Pallbearers will be Josh Nation, David Nation, Johnny Hancock, Chris Fox, John Dendy, and Benjamin Mulkey.
