Mr. Oliver Lee Watson

Mr. Oliver Lee Watson, 97, passed away on April 27, 2025, at his home in West Point. Oliver Lee was born on May 22, 1927, in North Carrollton, to the late Oscar Lee and Evie McDougal Watson. He served in the United States Army during both World War II and the Korean War. He worked as an Estimator and Planner for Babcock and Wilcox in West Point for 37 years. He was a longtime faithful member of Cedar Bluff Global Methodist Church, where he served as Charge Secretary, Treasurer, and song leader until age 93, and was recognized for his many years of service. He was an avid and accomplished vegetable and flower gardener and cook. He enjoyed bowling, his many cats, and sharing what God had blessed him with many various charities. He was a longtime caregiver to both of his parents and his sister. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Watson and Nell Valentine and three brothers, Charles, James, and Thomas E. Watson. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raleigh Richter officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended family. Pallbearers will be Jason Ingram, Dustin Randle, Chris Watson, Gene Allen Sanders, Mark Randle, and Jimmy Carr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Former Employees at Babcock and Wilcox, his many friends at Cedar Bluff Global Methodist Church, the Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health, Dr. Janee’ Steele, Valerie Miller, his Caregivers: Sarah McMillian, Bobbie Carter, Helen Doss, Berniece Carr, Cassie Crosswhite Sistrunk, Rhyanna Houser, Dorothy Henley, Mary Cox, Willene Jefferson, Martha Cohea, Sheila Watson, and Martha Eddy.
