It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia "Pat" Criddle Simmons, who peacefully departed this world on September 2, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on February 4, 1943, in Chickasaw County, Pat was the daughter of the late Tommie Caldwell and Mealy Lorette Dendy Criddle. On May 25, 1961, she married Jasper "Jap" Simmons, in West Point, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2017.
Pat's life was a testament to love, devotion, and service. For 27 years, Pat dedicated herself to caring for the children at the First United Methodist Daycare in West Point. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart left an unforgettable mark on the lives of countless young ones, and her legacy of kindness continues to echo in the community she cherished. Pat was a woman of deep faith and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in West Point. Her spiritual journey was enriched by sharing Mass with Kim and Jennifer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and worshipping alongside Michelle at Calvary Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light to her path and brought comfort to those around her. The heart of Pat's world was her family. Known as “Nan” to her family and countless others, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved every moment spent with her cherished grandchildren. Whether attending their events or simply sharing time with them, her love was a constant source of encouragement and pride. In her spare time, Pat found peace in the pages of a good book and the melodies of old gospel hymns, that brought her such peace. Mrs. Pat was more than just a family matriarch; she was a loving sister, aunt, and a dear friend to many. Her compassionate spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
