Mrs. Rachel Donahoo Cannon Obituary (1935

Mrs. Rachel Donahoo Cannon, 86, passed away on August 11, 2022 at Waverly Care Home in West Point. Rachel was born on September 18, 1935, in Branchville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert Sr., and Iva Cora Hall. Rachel and her first husband, Billy, owned and operated Cedar Bluff Superette for 36 years. People would drive from miles away to eat a "Mrs. Rachel's" cheeseburger. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. Having a love for children, she served as the church Day Care Director for many years. She enjoyed following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to their sporting events. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Thomas William "Billy" Donahoo, Sr., and Cleo Cannon, two sisters, and four brothers. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 13 from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 A.M. from Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, with Dr. James Towery officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Denise Wright (Johnny) and one son, Tommy Donahoo (Cindy), both of Cedar Bluff: six grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren: two sisters, Patricia Coomer (Lewis) and Sharon Camp, and four brothers, Jack Hall, Sr., Frank Hall (Ruth Ann), Andrew Hall, and Joe Hall. Pallbearers will be Warren Wright, Andy Wright, Heath Donahoo, Brett Donahoo, Austin Donahoo, and J. D. Higginbotham. Memorials may be made to Sally Kate Winters Children's Home, P.O.
