Mr. Robert Lewis Elliott, Sr. Obituary (1924

Mr. Robert Lewis Elliott, Sr., 92, passed away on January 24, 2016, at his residence in West Point. Mr. Robert was born January 2, 1924, in the Black Hawk Community of Carroll County the son of the late Sam Eugene and Zola Claire Tate Elliott. He was a 1942 Graduate of Black Hawk High School where he was Salutatorian of his class. He was an United States Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. He was a Foreman of the Metal Working Section of the 14th Civil Engineering Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base, retiring after 35 years. He married Mamie Arcola Robertson on October 17, 1947, in Black Hawk, and she passed away February 4, 2015. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson: Wynn Hardin McAllister; His Great Grandson: Austin James Anthony; and by his Brother: Walter Tate Elliott. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. from Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Carroll County with the Reverend Roy Myers officiating and assisted by Dr. James Towery. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his two daughters, Gayle Elliott of West Point and Susan McAllister of Vestavia Hills, AL; one son, Bob Elliott (Judy) of Birmingham, AL; Seven Grandchildren: Michael Drew Anthony (Kelli), Richard Cory Anthony, John Samuel McAllister (MaryJane), Jonathan Baker Rhoades (Emilie), Lindsey Martin, Christopher William Martin, and AnnaClaire Elliott; Six Great Grandchildren: Avi Grace Anthony, Laura Leigh Jackson, George Walter "Walt" Anthony, Sally Sharp Anthony, Levi Elliott Rhoades, and Theodore Samuel "Teddy" McAllister; and Special Caregiver: Mary Cox of West Point. Pallbearers will be his Grandson: Michael Drew Anthony, his Grandson: Richard Cory Anthony, his Grandson: John Samuel McAllister, his Grandson: Christopher Martin, John Michael Mathews, and Jack Clark. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Grandson: Jonathan Baker Rhoades, Dr. T.N. Braddock, and the Nurses and Staff of Halcyon Hospice. Memorials may be made to Liberty's Kitchen, P.O.
