Robert Paul "Cookie" Tyler

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Paul Tyler of West Point, who passed peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 31, 1944, to Paul and Annie Hunt Tyler in Sturgis, Robert, known as “Cookie” by friends and family, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a beloved member of the community. Cookie was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent his career at Babcock and Wilcox, retiring after many years of loyal service. He also served in the United States Navy and National Guard. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life. A passionate outdoorsman, Cookie found great joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening. His love for the outdoors was matched only by the love for his family. He cherished the time spent with his beloved wife Nina, who he was married to for 56 wonderful years creating a life of love, respect, and legacy together. Cookie was a devoted father and provider, always putting the needs of his loved ones before his own, and his family was the center of his world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Haywood, Toby, James Albert, and John D. Tyler and four sisters, Gloria Wells, Edna Barnhill, Linda Faye Young, and Delores Canalichio. He is survived by his loving wife, Nina: his three children, Judy Trenary, Bob Tyler (Angie), and John Tyler (Megan): four grandchildren, Shelby Huffman (Drew), Kamdon, Dawson, and Jaxton Tyler, and the newest love of his life, great-grandson, Hudson Robert Huffman: three sisters, Pauline Stansfield, Ann Thompson, and Diane Hazlewood, and two brothers, Felix “Budgie” Tyler and Jimmie Tyler. Cookie will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Wake Forest Cemetery in Sturgis. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be assisting the family. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry and Mary Barnhill, Mike and Cathy Edwards, Vera Taylor, Annie Brown, Ronnie Coggins, Keta Smith, Dallas Niswonger, and his former co-workers at Babcock and Wilcox.
