Mr. Steven Pumphrey

Steven "Pump" Pumphrey, 63, passed away on December 6, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Steven Evans Pumphrey, better known as "Pump" to his many near and dear friends, was born on October 17, 1961, in West Point, the son of the late Rex Evans and Mildred Virginia Perkins Pumphrey. Steve was a multi-talented individual that could do anything that he set his mind to do, but his first love was being a cowboy. Steve was a cowboy through and through. Being a cowboy was something Steve was passionate about. Something that he was good at and took seriously. He was also a heavy equipment operator that could operate any piece of equipment put before him. Not only operate the machinery, Steve could repair any problem that might arise. He was a natural when it came to equipment and their many repairs. Of the many talents and traits that Steve possessed, the one that came most natural and without much encouragement was that of being a gifted entertainer and storyteller with a wealth of wit. Each time you heard the story, it got a little longer with a little more flair, animation, and excitement to it. You knew it was coming because of that vivacious grin he would have on his face. To know Steve was to love Steve. You didn't have to be around Steve very long to forget your sorrows because they were drowned out with his humor, wit, and contagious laugh. Steve always made you feel special about yourself. It was never about him. He wanted the best for you. He would give you the shirt off of his back even though he didn't have it to give. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. Steve was a member of West End Baptist Church in West Point. There are no services scheduled at this time. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his two sisters, Tami Riley (Dave) and Libby Pierce; one brother, Jackie Stovall all of West Point; A number of Nieces and Nephews and other extended family. Honorary Pallbearers will be His many near and dear friends.
